Sri.C.V.Venugopalan finished his graduation in Mechanical Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Calicut in 1969 and did his post graduation in Aeronautics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1971. He joined as a Design Trainee at Design Complex, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. and was absorbed as Aeronautical Engineer in May, 1972. He worked under various capacities at Aircraft Ground Test Group till 1990 dealing with ground testing of various projects such as HF-24 Fighter, Kiran Trainer, Ajeet and Ajeet Trainer, Basant Agricultural Aircraft, HPT-32 and HTT-34 and was also involved in the planning of facilities for Light Combat Aircraft. He has vast experience in the design and development of test stands and was involved in static and fatigue testing of aircraft structures and components, ground resonance testing and system testing.

From 1990 to 2008, he worked in the Ground Test Centre, Helicopter Design Bureau, renamed as Rotary Wing Research & Design Centre. He was Head of the Department, Ground Test Centre (RWR&DC) looking after the development testing of the Advanced Light Helicopter ‘Dhruv’ and other projects such as Sea King. He was involved in the development of a pneumatic suspension system for vibration testing of helicopters and a spin up test stand for undercarriage drop test.

From 2009 to date, he is working at QuEST Global Engineering Services, Bangalore as a Consultant in Aeronautical and related domains. He was associated with the activities of Airbus and Rolls Royce Off-shore Design Centres and presently, works with the Technology Excellence Group and is involved in the field of Cost Engineering Services at QuEST and support to aerospace domains.
